On Trend: A Green Palette

We’re definitely seeing a shift in interior design aesthetics, where more earthen materials and colours will outshine light and bright palettes. Expect timber, stone, terracotta, and rattan to feature in our homes, so a deep colour to contrast against all of those warm reds and browns will be needed, which is why I’m sure dark green – in all different shades – is the latest must-have colour for interiors. As colour psychology suggests, the colour green is associated with growth, renewal, and nature, which makes it the perfect accent colour for this “back to nature” moment we’re having at the moment. It also coincides with the resurgence of florals and botanical-inspired prints. Welcoming these prints, and this theme in general, into our settings will see a focus on textures such as velvets, fur, leather, and suede – adding an opulent touch to a theme that could easily become more kitsch than chic. Merge the plush texture of velvet with a green hue for ultimate luxe appeal. For a bold look, you can’t go past a chic emerald green velvet sofa. Although daring in nature, it truly is a piece that can easily be incorporated into various interior design aesthetics – believe it or not! Paired with handsome tan leather, timber, fur, and gold accents, you’ll have yourself a luxurious – not to mention comfortable – setting that is sure to transcend any interior design trend. If a green feature sofa or occasional chair is too much for you then turn to a beautiful green plant, such as an olive tree, to bring in colours from the outdoors – literally.
