Copper has been the dominating metal over the last couple of years, and I think our obsession with the rose-toned metal has sadly come to an end this year. For 2016 we’re looking to a warmer colour palette to compliment the natural theme that’s trending this year, and that’s where the timeless tones of gold come into play.
Gold is synonymous with luxury, having been used as a monetary policy, jewellery, and arts from the beginning of the first modern civilization. Its resistance to corrosion, and its general hardwearing properties, make this material extremely sought after, which is no wonder this precious metal has graced interiors over time. It’s stately and refined aesthetic has demonstrated to be everlasting and undying in its appeal.
There’s nothing quite like a gold coffee table to stand out against a rich coloured sofa. I love pairing something like the Jonathan Adler Brass Teardrop Side Table with a dramatic velvet-upholstered sofa for a really luxe appeal. More specifically, I’d personally pair it with an emerald green velvet sofa (green is also trending at the moment), framed with a dark charcoal wall – it’s moody sophistication at it’s finest!
Décor items in a gorgeous gold make for a perfect accented addition to a neutral colour palette, and appear incandescent in a space filled with natural light. A table lamp or tray in a beautiful gold finish is a simple way to incorporate this metal, lending the space a curated and elegant aesthetic.
