Tucked away in the exquisite rolling pastures of the Scottish Highlands lies Killiehuntly Farmhouse & Cottage; a 17^th Century farmhouse that, thanks to Swiss interior designer Ruth Kramer, has evolved into a sophisticated boutique hotel with a bit of a Scandinavian twist. The exterior of the farmhouse is quintessentially Scottish: peaked roofs and solid stonewalls make up the quaint establishment, immediately presenting a warm and homely feel. Through the arched entrance you’re welcomed by a soft, Scandinavian-inspired interior that you’d just love to call home. In fact, that’s exactly how Dutch owners Anne and Anders Storm describe it – “your highland home”. A muted colour palette, inspired by Danish painters Carl Holsøe and Vilhelm Hammershøi, helps create the serene atmosphere experienced in the six sophisticated lodgings. Soft duck egg-blues, greys, taupes, and beiges adorn the walls, while light timber flooring flows through each space. The spaces are decorated with Danish-inspired designs, but made with the help of local Scottish craftsman – a beautiful collaboration between both worlds. A balance of wild rural masculinity and European femininity.
