Marble and brass is one of the all time classic combinations, from interior design to furniture and homewares. Think a marble benchtop and brass hardware in a kitchen, elegant light fittings and opulent cocktail tables.
Black marble or white marble - it doesn't matter, the cool and warm balance is sophisticated and timeless. No other combination of textures or colours says luxury more than marble and brass.
One interior that combines the two effortlessly and with brilliant results is by Mim Design. The studio designed a contemporary workspace for international property developer Landream, located within the prestigious new Australian Institute of Architects building. The lobby is light-filled and monochromatic in its colour palette, featuring gentle curves in white marble with brass detailing exuding timeless luxury.
Fiona Lynch, Belle Coco Republic Interior Designer of the Year, produced a beautiful bathroom for a residential client. A floating marble marble vanity steals the show, perfectly accented with brass detail. See the project on a previous post here.
With a new collection from Timothy Oulton comes the Hollywood Coffee Table with crisp white marble, a rose gold frame and brass inlay. Jonathan Adler also does the combination well with the Scalinatella Cocktail Table and Caracas Floor Lamp.
Next time you're renovating a kitchen or bathroom, or selecting furnishings for your space, don't look past a designer touch of marble and brass.
