In the spirit of the Rio Olympic Games 2016, I thought it would be fitting to write about fresh and light-filled homes that offer an exotic South American touch. When I think of Brazil I think of colour, fun, nature and the outdoors, and I think it’s safe to say that the photographs attached to this article will reflect that. So if you’re looking to add a bit of life and summer vibrancy into your home, then please keep on reading to see what you can do to get your interiors Rio-ready. The first step in achieving an exotic South American interior paradise is through the incorporation of natural materials; think stunning timber flooring and decorative panels, handsome leather accent chairs, and solid stone bench tops. Not only will the combination of these materials create a serene aesthetic but also the assortment of different textures, that are oh-so important in interior design, will provide that extra luxurious touch. You’ll find all sorts of colours painted throughout Rio de Janeiro’s architecture – even the Favela’s are lined with bright reds, yellows, oranges, and blues (to name a few). Mirror the vibrancy that is the Brazilian culture, and incorporate some of these bold colours into your home through artwork and decorative items. Ground a living room setting with a bright coloured rug such as the Jonathan Adler Dorothy Kilim Rug to contrast against a natural timber floor. A large sunny artwork like the Slim Aarons Lake Tahoe Couple Print Wall Art will brighten up any space, and would look perfect above a stone-top console or perhaps centred in a dining room.
